SIGMA DESIGN INTRODUCES eZ 3
AT THE INTERNATIONAL HOME BUILDERS SHOW
New York, NY - January 16, 2003 - Sigma Design announced today the release of eZ 3 and a new name for its popular document management and collaboration software, until now known as eZmeeting,
"The name change to simply eZ better reflects the software's broader and unique capabilities both online and off," said Charlie White, the company's CEO. Online, eZ enables ad hoc conferencing on virtually any data - CAD documents, plot plans, photos, PDF files, etc. - among builders, designers, contractors, and engineers from anywhere in the world, in the office or on-location, be it over the Internet, wireless networks, LANs, WANs, or VPNs. Offline, eZ has powerful presentation building capabilities. For example, with eZ, anyone can read an AutoCAD file, independent of whether they have AutoCAD on their computer and then build multi-part documents combining different file formats without the need for data conversion or copying.
Mr. White, a licensed architect and contractor who also owns a design-build firm specializing in residential and commercial properties, created eZ as a means of overcoming the ease and speed hurdles associated with instantly collaborating on bulky documents like CAD and 3D models with team members over a distance "There is nothing on the market like eZ for performance, versatility and affordability," he noted, adding, "Small and large companies use it to clarify planning issues and to avoid costly miscommunication both on and off-site." Sigma Design's other software products include BuildersCAD and ARRIS, which also have eZ technology embedded in their design.
The name change coincides with significant improvements reflected in the release of eZ 3, including:
- A new feature called eZnetwork that allows direct computer-to-computer connections using "friendly names" rather than IP addresses.
- Enhanced connectivity eliminating the need for reconfiguring firewalls or setting up a proxy server.
- A simplified and intuitive interface putting the most used tools and controls within easy reach. Advanced tools can be activated when needed.
System Requirements and Cost:
eZ is currently available for Windows 95, 98, NT, 2000, Me and XP. eZ can be purchased for $399 for a permanent license or for a monthly subscription of $20. A fully functional 30-day trial version can be downloaded free at www.eZmeeting.com. For more information or to purchase online visit the website or call toll free, 888-990-0900.
