Charlie’s eZ Secrets

Offline Markup

Most of our sketching and drawing occurs when we are in a stand alone or offline mode. In other words, we are at our desks working on ideas and producing work as individuals. I spend the greatest part of my day working in this manner using eZ to review designs, contracts, specifications, budgets, construction photos and practically all the information that comes across my desk.
eZ and my Wacom Cintiq have become my new “yellow trash.” For me it is a simpler and more effective method than my yellow transparent sketching paper for working out different design alternatives and solving problems.
The techniques that we use can be learned and mastered by any architect or designer, regardless of how “computer challenged” they may be. Anyone can learn to sketch on their computers easily. All you have to do is try.
Online Meetings

Our interactive conferencing skills have transformed our ability to reach out and work with the many people who are involved in producing our projects. It has added a interactive graphic element to all our meetings and conversations. Our ability to accomplish work and to communicate accurately with others, regardless of their location, has fundamentally improved our productivity and our service to our clients.
The example below is an actual client design meeting on a $1,000,000 addition to an MRI center which we are designing and building. One design session that took place had people in four different locations working on a solution for an equipment layout in a file storage room. Because we could brainstorm and work interactively with our client and the manufacturer’s representative at the same time, we came up with a better design that saved our client $6000. It was convenient and productive for everyone involved. Our clients love us!
